A first-turn plan to test
Our tactical inference: if team preview allows a sand lead, start Tyranitar + Excadrill. Against an obvious Fighting attack into Tyranitar, consider Protect on Tyranitar while Excadrill targets the exposed slot with its appropriate attack. Sand Rush depends on sand remaining active; opposing weather, priority and speed control can change the order. No knockout or survival calculation is implied.
Choose your Mega plan at team preview: the roster carries two Mega Stones, but you can Mega Evolve only one Pokemon per battle. Salamence's listed base ability is Intimidate; Mega Salamence uses Aerilate. Avoid switching base Salamence into Contrary Mega Staraptor just to lower its Attack. Psychic Terrain protects grounded targets from opposing priority, so inspect terrain before planning priority disruption.

Can Mega Staraptor survive the response?
Before you lead it, check whether the opponent has Electric, Ice, Fairy, Psychic, or Flying pressure plus enough speed to move first.
Can your team revenge it?
If you are counter-building, keep at least one fast revenge line and one reset or denial line. A single type advantage is not enough.
